Nagaland Congress Censures Double Speak of Kiren Rijiju

Chumthang News Service,
Imphal/21 June/2015: Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Saturday criticized the “double speak” of Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State (MoS) for Home on the Naga political issue especially with regard to ceasefire abrogation with NSCN (K). Media Cell, NPCC in a press statement said it is too late in the day for Rijiju to deny having said that “the NSCN (K) has nothing to do with the Naga issue.” “Nagas are not fools to easily accept his denial since the statement is on the record of Lok Sabha proceedings,” it stated.
The censure from the Congress comes in relation with the reported statement made by Rijiju recently in the Lok Sabha that- “NSCN (K) has walked out from dialogue process with the government of India. NSCN (K) with its Myanmar based leadership is mainly interested in extortion and has nothing to do with the Naga issue.” It also pointed out that the ceasefire abrogation with NSCN (K) has exposed the fault lines within the BJP government as the blame game has started between them over the mishandling of Naga political issue and the subsequent renewed violence.

Blaming the leadership of the BJP for their inept handling of the Naga political issue that led to abrogation of ceasefire with the NSCN (K), the Congress said “no amount of justification or denial from the BJP will cover up their miserable failure before the people.”
