Manipur Maoist threatens strike

IMPHAL: Maoist Communist Party Manipur (MCPM) Friday threatened to impose general strike on the opening day of the Sangai Festival slated to from November 21. Sangai festival is an annual cultural festival organised by Manipur Tourism Department every year from November 21 to 30. While threatening to impose a 12-hour statewide strike, the Maoist alleged Manipur government of fooling the people in the name of organizing the festival. The outfit further alleged that Manipur government organized such activities only for the sake of their benefits. It has therefore appealed to the people to stay away from such “unwanted and unreasonable activities”.
