Police commandos, ARs stand-off in Moreh

IMPHAL: Normalcy in Moreh, Manipur’s border town at the border Myanmar, following a stand-off over detention of two police commando personnel by the Assam Rifles.

A report reaching here said that the stand-off surfaced around 1.30 pm between personnel of Moreh post of 24 Assam Rifles and police commando personnel attached with Moreh police station when the Assam Rifles authority refused to release the two police commando personnel detained by them.

When the police commando unit officers approached the Assam Rifles authority asking them to release the two, the Assam Rifles authority reportedly turned down. Following this, police commando personnel in full uniform along with their service weapon rushed to the Assam Rifles post in a bid to forcibly take the two detained personnel. 

The standoff disturbed normalcy in the town as residents and visitors cautioned themselves for an expected violent confrontation between the two security forces.
