Uplifment Workshop held for farmers

IMPHAL: An upliftment workshop aimed to developing the skill of the farmers was organised by Jwalamukhi Battalion of Senapati Brigade under the aegis Red Shield division in Khurukhul village on 19 Mar 16. District Agricultural Officer of Imphal West, Soil Scientists of ICAR, Plant Health Scientists along with Bank Manager, SBI Branch of Sekmai were incorporated in the workshop for maximum dividends.   Security Force helped around 200 farmers belonging to area in and around Khurukhul. 

The workshop included insight on new agricultural technology, soil and water conservation, organic farming along with seed and soil health. The farmers were introduced to latest technology available in the market in which new techniques on sowing, irrigation and rotation of corps and harvesting.

Every farmer was issued with a soil health passbook containing integrated information on farm soil along with corresponding advisories. The farmers were given an insight on Kissan Credit Card and govt Insurance schemes.   As the forces are generally deployed in rural part of the state, their direct interaction with farmers can be used to enhance the awareness among the farmers.

MLA of Sekmai consistency was also present for the workshop.   The farming society of the area expressed their immense gratitude to the Security Forces for the novel concept of workshop for the ‘Sons of Soil’.
