LNC warns of 24-hour bandh

SENAPATI (NNN): The Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) has taken a firm decision to impose a 24-hour IT Road bandh from midnight of September 21 in case the KRA-U cadres involved in the September 16 incident fail to respond to the condition laid by the former by September 21.

Sources informed that Liangmai leaders held a long meeting today in this connection today.

According to LNC, 15 innocent people heading for their homes were assaulted at Kangpokpi and also at Turibari near Kangpokpi on September 16 at around 3 pm. The victims hailing from Makui village and Niulong village were traveling home to cast their votes for the Wakotphai ADC bye-election slated for the next day, LNC informed.

The Liangmai body had earlier sternly warned of “ugly consequences” if the people involved in the incident failed to surrender before the LNC customary court “within 3 days”. The deadline expires on September 21.

According to LNC, 15 “innocent travellers” were dragged down from their vehicles at IT Road petrol pump in Kangpokpi and also at Turibari and beaten up black and blue “without any rhyme and reason”.
