BJP activist Shot dead in Tripura ahead of state Elections

AGARTALA: A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been shot dead by unidentified assailants. 

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Gourhari Molsom, 42, was shot in Tripura’s Gomati district on Wednesday night, hours after Chief Election Commissioner A.K. Joti ended his two-day visit.

A.K. Joti was in the state to assess how prepared they were towards the upcoming state elections.

“Some unidentified miscreants shot dead Gourhari Molsom, 42, at Killa on Wednesday night.
Police is investigating the incident,” a police official said according to a report by NorthEastToday.in.

Police reportedly recovered the lifeless body of Gourhari and deposited it at Gomati district hospital for post-mortem.

K.V. Sreejesh, Inspector General (Law and Order), said a forensic team visited the spot and a dog squad has been pressed into service to trace the criminals.

He also revealed that, no suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Officials of BJP have commiserated with the family of the deceased.

The vice president of BJP, Rampada Jamatia met with the family members to offer his condolences and charged the police to apprehend the assailant and give them "severe punishment"
