Myanmar National sentenced 15 years imprisonment in Mizoram

AIZAWL: A Myanmarese national has reportedly been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment in Mizoram.

As per reports the national identified as Lenpu(28) is a resident of Tamu village, Myanmar.

Lenpu was arrested on January 14 this year for smuggling drugs into the country and as such a court in Mizoram’s Champhai district recently have sentenced the convict to more than a decade long imprisonment.

A fine of Rs 1 lakh has also been imposed on him, of which if the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to serve an additional year of prison.

Lenpu was found smuggling synthetic drug ‘methamphetamine’ into the country.
